December 2013

While we’re counting down to the new year, here’s a look back at my costumes from 2013!
I completed 13 new costumes, which is about average for me. A lot of them involved new techniques and skills that I had to learn, which was super exciting! (Although admittedly frustrating at times. Curse you, resin bubbles.)
I tackled some big projects this year, such as articulated wings for Medli, a set of armor for Azula, my Long Fall Boots for Chell, and creating an entire helmet from scratch (pun unintended) for Catwoman of Shanghai. I also accomplished some personal goals, like learning how to resin cast, sculpt and apply prosthetics, and use fiberglass. I’m sure more advanced cosplayers will look at that and chuckle, but for me they were big steps! (。・ω・。)
Overall, I’m really happy about the growth I’ve made as a cosplayer this past year. There’s still a lot I want to improve on, but that’s what resolutions are for! One of my cosplay resolutions for 2014 is to do one costume that’s a full set of armor. I’m looking forward to the challenge!
But for now, I hope everyone has a wonderful New Years. Be safe celebrating and enjoy the rest of the holidays! I wish you all the best for 2014!
